As already mentioned many times between our articles and our experiences, San Miniato, in addition to being a land of history, monuments and culture, is also the land of the delicious truffle, which there are many varieties: however, what distinguishes our city is the White truffle. It’s one of the rarest and most delicious foods to taste and already from ancient times its flavors and properties were exalted, among which the one of powerful aphrodisiac stands out! To pay homage to this gift that mother nature has given us, every year we celebrate the National White Truffle Market Exhibition, a world-wide festival that traditionally takes place the last three weekends of November populating the historic center of San Miniato with food and wine stands, illustrious personalities, markets, exhibitions, shows and much more!
Every year the Truffle Exhibition welcomes thousands of visitors from Italy, but also from all over Europe and the rest of the world, who allow themselves a little holiday among the tastes and flavors of our land, enjoying the typical products offered by our citizens with long family traditions that have been handed down that have made San Miniato unique.
National Exhibition of the White Truffle in San Miniato
Once you arrive in the historic center with a shuttle (access by car is prohibited) you will find many stands sellings mainly typical Tuscan products such as meats, sausages, cheeses, wines and of course truffles, also combined with all products listed above! For example, you can find truffle salami, pecorino cheese with truffle, lard and truffle creams, and much more!
Going up to the oldest part of the city, in Piazza del Prato del Duomo, you will find the stands of the most famous truffle hunters in our area, where you can buy the rare white truffle of San Miniato! Obviously each stand has its own small weight scale where you can weigh your nugget (so called because it has a very high cost!) and decide the most suitable for your palate’s needs!

You will also find the stands of our winemakers where, chalice in hand, you can taste some of the most precious wines of our lands walking among stalls of local artisans!
If you want to enjoy an excellent lunch (or dinner) based on white truffle in one of the restaurants of San Miniato, we advise you to book well in advance as, during the Truffle Exhibition, it will be very difficult to find places! Our restaurants offer some of the typical dishes among which tagliolini (typical Italian egg pasta) and the quail egg with white truffle, along with many other delicacies made by renowned chefs and that you can enjoy in characteristic and refined rooms!
